Chopstick Tuna Casserole

Instructions

Preheat oven to 375°C

  1. Combine the soup and water
  2. Add 1 cup of chow mein noodles, tuna, celery, cashews, onions and pepper.
  3. Toss lightly and place in an non-greased baking dish.
  4. Sprinkle remaining noodles on top.
  5. Bake for 15m or till fully heated.
  6. Garnish with orange slices.

Grandma wrote at the end of the recipe card: (funny, I just realized I was tossing the whole two cups [of noodles] into it, and it turned out O.K.)

Historical Record

In the 1970s sitcom Welcome Back, Kotter, Gabe Kotter’s wife Julie frequently makes her “world famous” tuna casserole, which is actually notorious for being so bad. As Gabe remarked to his wife during an argument, “Nobody puts prunes in a tuna casserole!”
